As a gateway to knowledge and enlightenment, a library plays a vital role in providing with reliable content. A library promotes and encourages the process of learning and grasping knowledge. A library is heart and soul of the education system. A library is one of the significant means of sharing knowledge and information.

Our College Library comprises E-Resources/Computer centre and Departmental library. Our College Library contains a rich collection of 18576 books. The variety is so wide-ranging that one mostly gets the book which one looks for. Apart from books our library is abundant in weekly, monthly and yearly magazines and renowned daily newspapers in Hindi and English editions. Above all our library has all forms of possible solutions to academic difficulties.

Our college library is accessible to students for reference and borrowing.

Rules of the Library


Every student irrespective of class will get 3 library-cards after his/her admission. Library-cards must be updated in each year. In order to obtain/updation of the library-cards students have to bring the following things:

  • Four recent passport size photographs
  • Fees Receipt

Library Timing: Monday to Saturday (10:00 AM To 4:00 PM)

Distance Education Centers

Distance Education or Distance Learning is a form of open learning where candidates can pursue a desired course without any classroom presence. In Distance Education system candidates are provided the printed Self Learning Material (SLM) or provided opportunity to communicate with teachers through electronic media.

In a country like India with immense growth rate of population there is left little possibility of formal education system to educate a wide range of students. Distance learning system intends to provide a great platform for those candidates who desire to work for their livelihood and want to enhance their academic qualifications simultaneously. Distance learning is more economical in comparison to formal education system. Flexibility in age of the candidates and flexibility in completion of a course in distance learning mode keep candidates free from so many formalities of formal education system. Above all, Distance Education system provides a wide range of study centers and courses for the candidates who live in a remote area.


Shaheed Hira Singh Government P.G. College is one of the study centers of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tondon Open University, Prayagraj. The Study Centre in our college, on the basis of the consent letter, runs various Diploma, Certificate and Degree courses at UG and PG levels.

To advance and encourage the Distance Education system Indira Gandhi National Open University has set up nationwide a considerable number of study centers. The study center offers a number of Diploma, Certificate and Degree courses at UG and PG levels.

Games and Sports

The classical proverb “A sound body has a sound mind.” marks the need of healthy body to be mentally healthy. In addition this shows that there is a close link between physical exercise and mental ability. Since its inception Shaheed Hira Singh Government PG College has ever been committed and devoted to put forth proper facilities for students to explore their talent in the fields of sports. Students are imparted regular training in the different fields of sports by the eminent trainer. Above all no stone is left unturned in providing the students the best possible infrastructure for sports. Every effort is made to promote students’ participation in various sports competitions at inter-collegiate, inter-university, national and international levels. The college has a sprawling playground with proper facilities for sports such as football, basketball, cricket, hockey and the like.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

The national Service Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme of Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. It provides opportunity to the Student-youths of school, college, university and technical institutions to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. Scouts and Guides (Rovers –Rangers)

The Bharat Scouts and Guides is the national Scouting and Guiding association of India. Scouting was founded in India in 1909, whereas Guiding in India started in 1911. Scouting and Guiding is an approved type of character training & preparation for good citizenship designed for the benefit of boys and girls. Insisting on a sense of responsibility and trustworthiness affords to be individual opportunity for developing initiative and leadership and promotes self-control, self-reliance and self-direction. Scouting and Guiding is based upon three broad principles which represent fundamental laws and beliefs. They are referred to as: “Duty to God”, “Duty to others” and “Duty to self”.

The Aim of Scouting and Guiding is four-fold. The first is the formation of character; the second is the formation of sound health habits. The third is the training in the handicraft and the acquiring of useful skills; and the fourth is the cultivation of a proper spirit of service efficiently. The pursuit of this aim leads to the development of good citizenship, among boys and girls.

Shaheed Hira Singh Government PG College has Rovers and Rangers units to perform in social activities in various sectors and inculcate social, emotional, intellectual and ethical values among students. The rovers and rangers are trained in various ways to make them competent and capable in a wide range of fields as social service, civil defence, disaster management, firefighting first aid, environment conservation and community development programmes through camp district, state and national levels. The Rovers (Boys) and Rangers (Girls) units of the college work efficiently under the guidance of Dr. Naushad Ahamad.
